WINGS Positive Social Opportunities Network is a 501(c)3 organization that relies entirely on the generosity of the public to continue sponsoring a support group, pot lucks, and trips. We could not accomplish this without the help of local business owners who are always willing to lend a hand. We thank you all for your continued support.

We provide a broad range of activities such as retreats, bowling teams, canoe outings, theater, holiday gatherings, monthly pot luck dinners, bar nights, dream adventures, and peer support groups. We now also offer our new retreat on Lake Huron. These activities are provided free or at a reduced cost since many participants are living on disability benefits or other limited income. Our sole support for these activites are private donations, fundraising events, and grants from sources such as Steppin' Out-AIDS Walk Detroit.*See Calendar of Events and find out how you can become a part of the Wings Team for this important Community Event.
We have found a new Metro-Detroit Home for our Monday Night Social/Support Group/Pot Lucks. Beginning on Monday, September the 14th from 7 - 9 pm we will be meeting at the Drayton Avenue Presbyterian Church/MCC/DEMC Building, at 2441 Pinecrest, Ferndale, MI 48220.

WINGS proudly owns and operates a cottage retreat called WINGS Over the Lake on the banks of Lake Huron in Applegate, Michigan.
The cottages are offered to the HIV/AIDS community at a greatly reduced price or for your free use. This seasonal retreat (closed from mid-November to April) is a great get away from those problems that are part of our daily life. Take some time for yourself and give us a visit. For reservations, please call (810) 359-2800 or email retreat@wingsmi.org. **Phoning is better and will get you a quicker response.
With the addition of the Community House directly across the street from the cottages, we now offer meeting space and indoor dining for groups up to 30. We also now have a 1.5 acre forest for hiking or primitive camping in the woods.

OUR MISSION:
WINGS is an all volunteer organization serving persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. We are the major source for providing support by means of social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities. We endeavor to create a safe, compassionate and empathetic atmosphere free of discrimination from race, color, creed, religious beliefs, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation.
History
In May of 1996, a group of concerned individuals identified a service gap for persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. It was apparent an organization needed to be created that would provide exclusively social, cultural, support, educational, and recreational activities. People either working or volunteering in the HIV/AIDS community were approached with the concept of WINGS. The response was overwelmingly supportive and in June of 1996 interested parties met and began the process of incorporation and to offcially plan activities as WINGS A Positive Social Opportunites Network. We incorporated with the State of Michigan as a Non-profit 501(c)3 in July 1996.
